Flex Planning has worked closely with our client and Fore Design to gain approvals for a new accommodation option for visitors to the Adelaide Hills, working to fill a long-established gap in the market.
The development features 29 premium accommodation units and two street-facing retail tenancies designed to complement Hahndorf’s established character. The design maximises the use and functionality of the site while maintaining a balance with the State Heritage requirements of the town, which guided the form, heights, material selection and transition between the street-facing tenancies and the remainder of the development behind.
Developing this unique site required a collaborative approach between Council, State Heritage, and Fore Design to ensure the objectives of all parties were met. The final design achieves a careful balance between managing the risks associated with the watercourse and floodplain at the rear of the site, addressing State Heritage considerations, integrating with the existing streetscape, meeting on-site parking requirements, and ensuring efficient traffic flow to and from the site.
