Flex Planning has worked closely with our client and Fore Design to gain approvals for a new accommodation option for visitors to the Adelaide Hills, working to fill a long-established gap in the market.
The development features 29 high quality accommodation units and two street-facing retail tenancies designed to complement Hahndorf’s established character. The design maximises the use and functionality of the site while maintaining a balance with the State Heritage requirements of the town, which guided the form, heights, material selection and transition between the street-facing tenancies and the remainder of the development behind.
Developing this unique site required a collaborative approach between Council, State Heritage and Fore Design to ensure that the required outcomes of all parties could be achieved. The final outcome strikes the balance between the risks associated with the watercourse and floodplain to the rear of the site, State Heritage considerations and the vehicle car parking and movements throughout the town.
“I am excited to have this opportunity to provide a quality accommodation facility for Hahndorf and am pleased that some of the existing shop owners have expressed interest in coming back to the new retail tenancies. I see this as an opportunity to grow the town of Hahndorf without impacting on the car parking congestion within the town.”

We see this as an important project for the future offering of Hahndorf. Site work is expected to commence shortly, and we look forward to seeing this exciting project come to life.
