Siteworks have begun at The Cedars, Hahndorf, as building the much-anticipated Heysen Gallery project gets underway.
South Australian builder Marshall & Brougham have been engaged to construct this dynamic multipurpose art gallery, which will house and protect the artistic works of both Hans and Nora Heysen.
Flex Senior Town Planner Sonia Gallarello worked closely with the Heysen Foundation to manage the variation application as the design evolved. Gallarello described the process as a smooth collaboration with Council staff and State Heritage, adding that
“We are excited to see the project draw closer to fruition, after the positive outcome from the Council Assessment Panel (CAP) meeting in May last year.”
The Gallery is funded with a federal grant under the Adelaide City Deal, and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025.
